Writer nabbed raiding ‘Affair’ computer

By Marvin Smilon

A freelance writer was arrested for allegedly breaking into the computer system containing files for the Fox-TV program "A Current Affair."

Accused computer hacker Stuart Goldman got his hands on "sensitive data files" regarding news stories for the show, according to a complaint filed yesterday in Manhattan Federal Court.

Goldman, 45, of Studio City, Calif., was nabbed Thursday by Los Angeles cops.

The Secret Service had been alerted to the problem by Fox-TV on Feb. 6 after they detected several instances of hacking in their system.

A trace placed on the company's phone line to their Los Angeles computer led to Goldman's apartment, the complaint said.

Two floppy disks were found in his home, both of which contained data relative to "A Current Affair," according to the complaint.

Goldman faces up to five years in jail and a $250,000 fine if convicted.

A Fox spokesman said Goldman once worked for the show for a week or two but nothing he wrote was aired.
