Maury Povich

A seasoned broadcaster and skillful interviewer, award-winning newscaster Maury Povich brings his experience and expertise to “A CURRENT AFFAIR,” Fox Television’s live, nightly news feature magazine.

Povich began his career in broadcasting as a sportscaster at WTTG-Channel 5 in Washington D.C. In 1973, he became the stations’ weekend anchor and host of “Panorama,” a popular talk show.

A veteran of more than 20 years in television journalism, Povich has worked as a news anchor and talk show host for WMAQ, the NBC owned station in Chicago; KNXT, a CBS owned station in Los Angeles; KGO, and ABC O&O station in San Francisco; and KYW in Philadelphia.

In 1983, he returned to WTTG in Washington as the anchor of the “10 O’Clock News” and the host of “Panorama.” Both programs have received Emmy’s and other prestigious awards from the broadcasting industry. In 1984, Povich won an Emmy Award for “Best Co-Anchor.”

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Povich comes from a family of journalists - his father, Shirley, is a respected sports columnist in Washington D.C., and his sister Lynn is a senior editor for Newsweek.

He and his wife, NBC anchor Connie Chung, reside in Manhattan.
